Linky Link Update!
Guys. I didn't think I could, but I'm even more obsessed with my cute kid. I may be a little biased, but he is amazing.
He is DEFINITELY a sour patch kid. Have you seen those commercials? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebPuuPDzHR4
One second he is driving me up the wall with his naughty, and then next he's smothering me with hugs and kisses at random. He is most definitely in the two year old defiant stage, but we're learning every day! He doesn't always listen, but Mama don't mess around and we have consequences.
He's such a punk. Sometimes he'll look me dead in the eye and drop a cheese wrapper on the ground and just smile. He knows it belongs in the trash can, but he loves pushing my buttons. I am pretty good about following through when it comes to punishment. I'll ask him to throw it away, and he'll promptly say "No!" Sometimes putting his nose in the corner and counting to 10 does the trick, and sometimes it doesn't. I literally have to make his squat, guide his hand, and drag him to the garbage can. I'm not sure if it's very effective because he thinks it's hilarious the whole time.
I tell him he needs to do things "right now" often. Well, now I get "babble babble incoherent words babble babble righ now!" from him on the daily. It's cute but also so naughty! He's very bossy. Not sure where he got that from! 😜
The other day he surprised us with "I tan't!" (I can't). He is so funny. I'm not sure where he picked that up, but it's a good opportunity to tell him that he CAN as we cheer him on. Lately it's showing him how to climb in and out of the pack n play. He thinks it's hilarious and fun and we love watching him teeter over the top and eventually kerplunk over the side. He is ALL boy. Long and skinny and the perfect climbing body. He's been climbing out of the pnp for over a year, so that never worked for us!
Bath time is his favorite time. It's nice to let him play in the water and give mama a quick break. We're often outside and in the dirt, so a nightly bath is routine these days.
We're about a month into sleeping in his own bed! Hooray! Except he still requires us to fall asleep. Boooooo. Sometimes it takes him just a few minutes to fall asleep, and other times it's an hour or two. Thomas and I take turns. Lincoln insists we lie in bed with him, too. A toddler bed. Just picture almost 7 feet of man scrunched up into a toddler bed. I get super uncomfortable at my 5'3 short, so I feel so bad for Thomas!
Our typical routine is bath, books, prayers, then bed. We've always let Lincoln choose who is going to pray that night. It's so sweet. He even loves to have Woody, Bailey, Bear, and any toy nearby to pray as well. We line them up, fold their arms, and let them kneel with us. It is hilarious.
Lincoln has even started repeating us as we pray. I just about died the first time he did it almost by himself. Sometimes he insists on praying at random. When I bend or kneel down to put on his shoes, picking up toys, etc. He'll exclaim "Pay! Pay!" and fold his arms and bow his head. Sometimes it's mid meal (even though we already prayed). He's so good at picking up on things as well. It surprised us when he folded his arms and bowed his head at church one day. We did the opening song and he knew the prayer was next. That was quite a few months ago. It's amazing to watch them absorb the world around him.
We aren't pushing potty training yet, but the interest is definitely there. If he takes off his diaper, we immediately go sit on the potty. If he wants candy, he has to eat it on the potty. Typing that out sounds really gross now that I think about it! But he literally just sits on a floor potty and eats some m&ms and then gets up. The other day (total fluke) he peed on the potty and I was so excited that I gave him extra candy! That was earlier this week and he STILL talks about it. I love it so much.
Lincoln's imagination is so fun to watch. He babbles little stories and says real words here and there. Most of the time I just act very interested because I have absolutely no idea what he's telling me. But I think it's so important to listen to the small stuff.
Lincoln looooves to dance. If there's any music at all, he yells "Dance! Dad! Dance!" and we must drop everything we're doing a boogie right along with him. In church, during reverent hymns, he'll yell "Sint! Sint!"
(Sing! Sing!). I used to wave his arm and lead the music when he was little, and now he does it himself. It's the funniest thing to watch. He pays attention to the chorister and leads right along with her.
Even though we had snow recently, it's not stopping us from playing outside! We recently went on a Hike it Baby group hike that a friend of mine organized. It was 6 moms walking the trails nearby. The kids had a blast seeing turtles, climbing rocks, collecting sticks, playing in the dirt, etc. I grew up making mud pies in the Georgia clay and ran through creeks barefoot. I cannot wait to let my little boy truly explore this beautiful earth!
Lincoln is amazing at counting to 10 and knows all his colors. Thank you, YouTube kids 🙈 We practice colors and numbers, but I legitimately give most of the credit to the tablet. I don't want a tablet baby, but sometimes Mama just needs some quiet time!
Lincoln is so social. We went to dinner the other night and he was babbling to the sweet waitresses every time they came to our table. They loved it and he loved the attention! We went to breakfast at Waffle House last week (it was an hour wait! Saturday morning. Not my brightest moment!) and he was so patient. He asked everyone that passed by for food.
Body parts are also a topic of conversation. We use correct terms in this house. He will often point out his privates in the bath and name them with great excitement! The other day as we were getting into the bath, he pointed to himself and then to me. And that was our first "Mommy is different than Lincoln" conversation started. I'm not sure it actually clicked, but we'll see!
I think my favorite thing is when he shakes his bum and says "Booty! Booty!" or when he points out Spiderman's booty and boobies. I really hope I'm not ruining my child! Hahahaha. Oy.
We have friends over to play every day of the week. Lincoln is a great helper and loves his best friends. He's always helping with the babies or trying to wrestle with the older boys his size. I'm often chastising him for being too playful and slightly rough, but the boys take it well! No one ever gets hurt, but the kids will look at me with a "Help me, lady!" if Lincoln starts to get rowdy. I always make sure to intervene and I'm always just a few feet away. We're constantly learning what is too rough and how to be soft and nice.
Lincoln is learning more and more every day. He's repeating almost everything. It's crazy to think he'll be fully talking some time soon! We love this little dude and his shenanigans. He's such a joy (and a stinker) and we're so lucky to have him!
❤❤❤
