Part Two: Tommy is here!

After a few more high blood pressure readings, everyone was ready to get this show on the road. Especially me! I had such an amazing team of nurses and doctors. I saw four different doctors throughout my stay, so I was really curious as to who would actually be delivering the baby. I was very anxious to start the Pitocin. They wanted to try a couple more things before resorting to that though in addition to waiting until he was officially 37 weeks at midnight. We joked I would hold my breath and we would wait until 12:01 to finish pushing. That was a lof of wishful thinking on my part! It was recommended that I receive the betamethasone shots before the baby was born. I'd never had the shot before, but those things hurt! I got two shots and they were not pleasant. They also recommended Cytotec to help speed things up a bit. I hadn't planned on an epidural, but it was strongly recommended because of my blood pressure issues. Once they placed the Cytoec and it started to kick in,...

Get This Baby Outta Me!

10/2/22 What an experience. As I write this, I am on day 3 of a hospital stay. Little dude is taking his sweet time getting here. Lincoln and Abbie came at 36 weeks and Elijah at 37. I am 37 weeks tomorrow, October 3rd. I went in for my routine appointment on Friday. My blood pressure was a little high and I'd been having contractions for weeks at this point. After half an hour she told me to head to L&D to get more rigorous monitoring. I wasn't a fan of the idea, but she insisted. I was really hoping we'd be leaving with a baby that night. My blood pressure seemed stable enough and the baby checked out, so they sent me home. Thankfully the doctor gave me some meds to help me sleep. They only sort of helped, but at least it was more sleep than I'd had in awhile. S...

What a whirlwind of a year. After lots of trying on our own, trying with fertility meds, disappointment, more fertility meds, we are finally P R E G N A N T! I've been trying to soak up this pregnancy. It was a total shock. I know that sounds silly when you're going through fertility treatment, but we didn't think it was going to work the first round of this new medicine. I had blood work done and the doctor told me the meds likely didn't work. We accepted it and prepared ourselves for another round of meds. That last round was very hard on my body, so I was not excited when the doctor told me we should use a higher dosage. I got pregnant with Lincoln on this same regimen, so I was hopeful my body would respond. But the news that it didn't work was extremely devastating. And then, all of the sudden, I was feeling very tired at night when I usually have a lot of trouble falling asleep. I was also getting a few dizzy spells randomly throughout the day. I've exper...
