Traditions: Pizza, Popcorn, Peppermint Ice Cream Parties

Christmas time always makes me nostalgic!

Saturday night, Thomas and I had a "Pizza, PJ, Popcorn, Peppermint Ice Cream and Movie" night. We invited my brother Jacob, Thomas' roommates, and a few friends over for the celebration.

Growing up, every Christmas Eve-Eve, my parents would always layer our entire living room with blankets and pillows and set up the VCR with the Christmas classics; "Frosty the Snowman" and "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer". All 8 of us would pile in front of the TV and devour the pizza and popcorn. We would then top off the night with the delicious peppermint ice cream. We made some good memories. (As we got older, one by one we would slip out and sneak off to Waffle House for some midnight waffles! Yum!)

Now that I'm starting a little family of my own, I wanted to share some of my traditions with Thomas. He liked the party so much that we decided we would start doing it every year. I love Christmas!

This year, we won't be decorating for Christmas. At least in Utah! On Monday, Thomas, Jacob and I fly out to Atlanta! We are so excited.

It is finals week this week and Thomas (snuggled up beside me) is studying his little heart out. As an English Teaching major, there are a lot of papers and reading to do. I am so proud of him for pushing through the semester. Hey! Maybe he'll be rewarded with an eternal marriage or something! ;)

These days we are working, studying, and slowly moving our things into the new house. I FINALLY sold my single housing contract. For any of you who aren't aware, the LDS church lowered the age that women were allowed to serve a mission for 18 months. As soon as I decided to get married, it seemed like every single 19 year old girl was trying to sell their contract to go on a mission as well. Perfect timing! Luckily, a girl in my complex has a little sister that would like to move in! What a blessing.

Earlier this week I was thinking back on all of the stresses I had this semester. The blessings outweigh the struggles by miles. I have a wonderful fiancé, an amazing family (and almost family in-law!), a full time job, a new home for us, food to eat, etc. I think I am so silly sometimes when I get overwhelmed or stressed. I have so much to be thankful for!

As I slowly but surely pack up all of my stuff, I've become very nostalgic. Living in Utah for over three years has made me grow so much.

Thomas and I are so excited to begin our married life together! 10 days and counting :)

Love,

Jenny and Thomas
