The Wedding and Reception

This post is a bit delayed, but I think Thomas and I have a good excuse!

The weeks leading up to our marriage and the following weeks have been wonderful, but jam-packed with adventures and new beginnings!

So much has happened in just a few weeks, so I'll just summarize!

Thomas and I flew to Georgia on the 17th. My little brother tagged along as well. Because we all 3 had separate flights (no fun, right?) to Atlanta, we took one big trip up to Salt Lake early that morning. Thanks, Alan! Thomas had the first flight, then Jake, then me. As we checked in, we discovered Jake's flight left in 30 minutes and not in four hours as we had planned (they changed the flight times). Thank goodness we are punctual people! Thomas eventually boarded his flight and I waited. I waited a total of about 7 hours from the time we got to the airport to the time I took off. We are punctual and frugal. One trip for three! ;)

We landed in Atlanta and Thomas went to go stay with his sister while Jake and I crashed at my parents' house. It was so nice to be home with our family.

The next few days were busy, busy running errands, picking up flowers, helping make dishes for the reception, etc. We had a ton of help from my sisters, my family, Thomas' family, and good friends. The venue was perfect!

On Wednesday, Jake and I had the opportunity to receive our endowments. This is a special opportunity to receive special blessings that allow us to enter our holy temples. If you would like to learn more about our temple endowment, please visit www.lds.org: Endowment. If you have more questions for me, please let me know! That LDS website is full of wonderful information if you have any questions about Latter Day Saints.

Going through the temple was such a wonderful, spiritual, enlightening,  exciting, and beautiful experience! I could go on and on. To be there with our families, to share this night with my brother, and to have my mom by my side was one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

The next few days were again filled with errands, decorating, and last minute things. My mom is WONDERWOMAN! She is a planning (since August...and we got engaged in September!), catering, creative, wedding MACHINE! She went through so much trouble to give me the most memorable marriage experience.

I want to share something special that happened at the temple. As I was getting all packed to get MARRIED, my mama asked me if I would like to be sealed in her temple dress! (My dress was a light ivory, so I couldn't wear it inside the temple.) What a special experience! It fit me perfectly and was so beautiful. It was handmade by my crafty Aunt, which makes it even more special. The temple matrons just "ooh" and "ahhh'd" when I put it on. What a blessing and a fun memory.

The morning of my sealing went by so fast! I went and picked Thomas up at his sister's house and we were off to Atlanta! We were ecstatic and could not be any happier in that moment. I love him so much!

One of the nicest things about being home was how close Thomas' sister Ashley and her husband were just a few miles down the road. Literally! Christmas was nice because we could bounce back and forth easily and we are able to attend all of the family traditions. That, too, was a huge blessing! Less travel and more family time.

The night of our wedding was the reception. It was GORGEOUS! Our families helped make it PERFECT!

Stay tuned for our next post: The Honeymoon!
