Traditions: Pizza, Popcorn, Peppermint Ice Cream Parties

Christmas time always makes me nostalgic! Saturday night, Thomas and I had a "Pizza, PJ, Popcorn, Peppermint Ice Cream and Movie" night. We invited my brother Jacob, Thomas' roommates, and a few friends over for the celebration. Growing up, every Christmas Eve-Eve, my parents would always layer our entire living room with blankets and pillows and set up the VCR with the Christmas classics; "Frosty the Snowman" and "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer". All 8 of us would pile in front of the TV and devour the pizza and popcorn. We would then top off the night with the delicious peppermint ice cream. We made some good memories. (As we got older, one by one we would slip out and sneak off to Waffle House for some midnight waffles! Yum!) Now that I'm starting a little family of my own, I wanted to share some of my traditions with Thomas. He liked the party so much that we decided we would start doing it every year. I love Christmas! This year, we wo...

October: Jack and the Beanstalk

Image
Friends and Family, This is the more detailed post of October. We hope you enjoy :) The month of October was a whirlwind of adventures and PLANNING! With the wedding coming up in just 14 days, we are still trying to get everything squared away. It is sneaking up on us fast! This is going to be a long one, but it has a lot of exciting news, so stay tuned... :) At the beginning of October, I took a short trip home to Georgia to help out a new friend. I'd met April at the beginning of the year after a series of blessings! April is actually my biological cousin that was adopted out of our family 27 years ago. I won't go into too much detail, but the first part of October was busy planning the trip that would help reunite April with my Aunt Marni. It was a beautiful experience that we will always remember. As we were finalizing plans, a show called "The Buried Life" asked if they could come along on the trip to help film the reuniting. April was very excited and ...

The Adventures of Our New Home

Friends, Forgive me for being so terrible at blogging! Life with Thomas is so full of fun and adventures that it's hard to sit down and write about it. I wanted to update you all on our recent happenings. (I have another post that is much more detailed, but I wanted to get one out sooner!) October was full of Halloween parties, birthdays, and FALL! Even though Utah doesn't believe in the wonderful Fall weather, we had a couple weeks of cool, crisp air. The leaves were absolutely gorgeous. I always love to drive up the canyon through Alpine Loop to see all of the beautiful Fall colors, but unfortunately life is just too busy. November was full of school, work, and finding our first home! Thomas and I had been anxiously searching for married housing for quite awhile and nothing was turning up. Advertisers were not responding to our inquiries and available spaces were quickly filled. We both knew something would work out eventually, but I was still ne...

Engagement Photos

Image
Thomas and I were blessed to have my wonderful cousin  April Davis  take our engagement photos a few weeks ago! We had a lot of fun traveling to St. George to hang out with April and her family! Here's a sneak peek! :) If you haven't had the opportunity to give us your address, please do so soon! We will be mailing out invitations in the near future. We will have a reception in Marietta, Georgia on December 22nd and an open house in Provo, Utah on January 5th. Here is the  form ! Temple Dedication Thomas and I also had the opportunity to view the Brigham City temple dedication broadcast while we were in St. George. I had never attended a temple dedication before, and I really loved that I was able to experience it with Thomas, April, and her husband Jon. If you're interested about learning about the temple, visit this website:  http://www.ldschurchtemples.com/brighamcity/ Thomas, as we all know, is the most handsome man on Earth! No...

Totts: The Beginning

Image
The Story April 26th: At the beginning of the semester, I put together a potluck BBQ as a welcoming activity for the new kids moving in. We had a really good turnout and I loved watching the new friendships develop. At some point, someone asked me if I was from Georgia. Thomas overheard and called out that he was from Georgia, too. There were already a couple of us Southerners here at the 'Ridge, so it was exciting to have a new Georgian friend. Little did I know... ;) April 28th: I attended a movie gathering at Thomas' apartment. He does not have any recollection of my presence...at all. What a silly boy! I brought some candy and treats to the party, and he remembered  that.  Haha May 16th: Time went on and Thomas and I crossed paths here and there. Every night (or almost every night), he would chat with me on Facebook. He would always have something  funny  to say: "I'm pretty sure Facebook isn't helping you accomplish homework." May 18t...

A Puzzle of a Proposal

Image
Well I suppose it's about time that I share my side of the story...which basically mimics Jenny's side...with some different perspectives and some additions. :) I think I'll begin from when we first decided to be married. We had discussed marriage and were tentatively planning a December engagement and a wedding in April. Well Jenny's mom came to town and after I wooed her during our breakfasts together while Jenny was at work, her mom suggested getting married in December. Jenny was extremely comforted to know that her mom was behind the idea, and the next day we talked and decided that we were going to get married. That meant that I was going to have to propose. I've often joked with my friends about starting a proposal business (I've always been able to come up with wonderful proposal ideas, and I thought about offering my services to others...essentially I would go on a double date with the guy looking to propose, ask him and her casual questions on the ...

Patience and Puzzles

Today was an exciting day! I woke up this morning very refreshed and excited and a bit hyper, for no reason. Little did I know that today was going to be one of the most exciting days of my life! So far... Thomas picked me up this morning to go to breakfast at Chick-Fil-A before work. We had to hurry there before they ended breakfast so we literally ran  into the mall to catch the last few minutes of breakfast :) We got to work a little early so we sat in the car and chatted for a bit. Mostly mushy "I love you" stuff, of course. I was still in a very good mood for no apparent reason.   Before I had to go inside, Thomas started giggling. I asked him why, and he told me I would find out soon. I didn't like that at all. I mean, I really  didn't like it. I got frustrated and nagged him for a few minutes. He finally broke down and said "There's something for you inside." My impatience and nagging immediately ceased and I felt silly! Poor guy just wanted...
