Surprise Anniversary: Midway, Utah

Date: December 19th-21st, 2013
Location: Zermatt Resort, Midway, Utah

Thomas and I arrived at the resort after weathering a heavy snow storm. We had a bit of a scare on the way up the canyon, but arrived safely. Thank goodness for Jeeps and 4-wheel drive! Thankfully, the turtles were safe, as well.

We got Subway sandwiches for dinner and breakfast snacks at a gas station so we didn't spend a fortune on dinner at the resort. We'd save that for the next day!

We checked into our gorgeous room and went off to explore the resort. We played chess (I won!), and explored the wellness center, relaxation rooms, library, and various amenities. We then got cheesecake at the cute little Bistro downstairs. Yum!

We were then spoiled with a soft king size bed, down pillows, and real heating and air!

The next morning, we slept in until 9 am. This NEVER happens with us. We seriously need to invest in some nice curtains for our bedroom window!

We lounged around, ate breakfast, and set out for the day. We checked out the indoor pool and hot tub, the spa, and a ginormous Gingerbread house! We also played a few games of pool (He won!).

Between the chess and pool, I joked that I had the brains and he had the body! ;)

For lunch, we ate some delicious pizza! Apparently, it's world famous pizza. We got an “everything” pizza. We subbed the mushrooms for pineapple. Little did we know, the pineapple must've been soaked in something alcoholic, because that was some strange pineapple!

After lunch, we headed out to go ice skating at the Midway ice rink. We were basically the only ones out there, so it was nice to be able to awkwardly skate on our own. We took lots of cute pictures! They even had a crazy ice formation maze.

Afterward, we stopped at a cute little boutique and found a gorgeous Nativity set and little trinkets. I told Thomas that when we're rich, I'm going back up there to buy everything in that store!

That night, we went to a fancy dinner at the resort. It was beautifully lit, had an extremely talented pianist, and our server was amazing! We told him we were celebrating our first anniversary and they gave us our dessert for free!

We enjoyed some time at the resort relaxing and growing closer. I love this man!
