Blessing Abigail Rae

Image
This is the same dress I was blessed in 26 years ago.  This dress is so special to me because it was handmade  by my grandmother, my sweet Mama's mama. We blessed Abbie Rae on November 26th, 2017. It was such a tender moment for us. Family and friends came to visit to help us celebrate. The men gathered in a circle and held baby girl in a sweet prayer. Thomas gave the most beautiful blessing to Abbie Rae. It was such a humbling experience to hear the sweet voice of my husband saying such lovely things to our baby girl. He blessed her to know of our love and to know her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He went on to bless her with things I will never forget.  I'm a big time planner and typically get stressed over big events. But this time I just enjoyed the celebration. I don't think I stressed about this day and blessing once. Everything kind of fell into place and it was the perfect day. After the blessing Thomas held her for a long time. I would...

The Sweetest Spirit

Image
When Abbie Rae was just a few weeks old I had a really special moment with her that I'll never forget. She was in the baby wrap while I cleaned the kitchen, did dishes, and attempted to make dinner. At one point I looked down at her. She usually had that goofy cross eyed newborn gaze that always made me laugh, but this time it was different. She caught my gaze. I looked into her sweet little eyes and she focused in on me. She could see me perfectly and I suddenly had this overwhelming feeling of pure love. We hit the ground running as soon as we got home from the hospital. Literally. My parents were still in town and there were lots of fun Fall events I wanted to attend. I was feeling great, so life just carried on as normal with the baby in the wrap rather than my womb. Everything about my labor and delivery with Abbie Rae was so different from Lincoln. Recovery was also very different as well. I sat in bed for the first week I was home with Lincoln. We basically just nap...

A Month with Our Abbie Rae ❤️

The transition from one to two kids has been easier than I imagined. Knock on wood, right?! I've nannied for over a decade and Lincoln has had children around since he was first born, so I think that helped him get used to the idea quickly. I didn't think he'd grasp the situation at first, but he really surprised me in the hospital. We'd always talked to my belly and told him Baby Sister was coming, but I didn't think it clicked. Not long after I had her, Lincoln came to visit. He was playing nearby and noticed Abbie Rae in the room. "Oh! Baby Sister!" and continued on. It was so cool! We hadn't introduced them yet, so it was awesome to see him grasp it on his own. Soon after we did a meet and greet and he got to hold her. And then my heart exploded! Life kind of stops when you have a baby. We almost went home at the 24 hour mark, but we decided to stay the second night. I'm glad we did. Abbie Rae was cluster feeding like a maniac and I was s...

Lincoln and Abbie Rae

Image
I was so excited to see Lincoln as a big brother, but it was always hard to imagine. Now that Abbie Rae is here, I am more in love than ever! He is so amazing with her. Always wanting to hug her and asks to kiss her. He's also the typical toddler and wants to share his sharp, pointy dinosaurs with her. He's pretty careful with her for the most part, but I definitely don't ever leave them alone in the same room. Abbie Rae is so sweet. She's more and more awake every day. We had her two week appointment yesterday and our pediatrician was very happy with her progress. She put on 11 ounces in a week! She nurses every 2ish hours during the day and every 3-5 hours at night. I am so excited she's such a good sleeper already. Lincoln didn't sleep very well until I weaned him at 2! Oy. It's so fun for me to see Thomas with Abbie. One time, years ago, we were day dreaming about babies and I mentioned that I was a tomboy growing up. I told Thomas that I won...

Abigail Rae Graham

Abigail Rae Graham October 3rd, 2017 3:22 PM 6 pounds 15 ounces 19 ¼ inches Thomas, Lincoln and I are so happy to introduce our newest little one. Meet Abigail Rae Graham. On September 18th, Baby Girl gave us a bit of a scare. I'd been contracting for weeks, but I knew it wasn't the real deal. They were usually sporadic and easily ignored. On the 17th I was awakened by a few contractions. When they didn't subside I timed them for a half hour . 2 minutes apart almost exactly and lasting a minute. That was a little scary at 33/34 weeks. They weren't painful by any means, but sometimes timing is all you need. I finally caved at 3am and told Thomas I was going to shower and that this may be the real deal, but probably not. I told him to go back to sleep (ha!). I heard noises so I peeked out of the shower and a fully clothed Thomas walked past. Oops! I gave it more time and then called the nurse line. I really didn't want t...
