Lincoln is TWO!

I cannot believe little dude is TWO! I am just a ball of emotions about this one. He is the goofiest, silliest, most loving boy I've ever met. He's always dancing, making his toys talk, and coloring. He spends over an hour a day drawing or coloring. He loves stickers, Dory, and all animals. It's so fun to watch his mind at work and his creativity shine.

He's getting more and more verbal and it's so fun. He'll say "Ummm..." when browsing the pantry or when picking out a movie to watch. I thought it was the funniest thing and had no idea he was mimicking me until Thomas pointed it out! He even says "Agh!" like me when he drops something. Having a mini me is a dream come true.

Having other children in my home has been so fun for me and Lincoln. He is learning and thriving because of their company. One of the little boys I watch is only 18 months but is basically Lincoln 2.0. He's about the same size as Lincoln as well! He only comes Tuesday-Friday, but Lincoln asks about him every day of the week. Every time the doorbell rings or he hears a noise outside, he'll get so excited and call for him. I'm always so sad to tell him the bad news if he won't be there that day.

Being around babies has also been really good for Lincoln. I was nervous about it at first, but he is so gentle. I was a nanny to a newborn last year, so he's somewhat used to tiny babies, but the just under 1 crowd is his favorite. He loves making them laugh, giving them toys, and helping with bottles. If one of them loses a toy and they start fussing, he'll run after the toy and give it back to them. My little helper.

My favorite thing is watching him give all the kids hugs at random. He's so gentle and loving. He'll even try to sit in their laps! Poor babies. I'm always right there and always monitoring them, but his affections are so funny.

Our favorite thing these days are oranges. All day long. His little way of saying oranges kills me. "Or-ah-nis? Or-ah-nis" Cheese is a second favorite. Cookies (to distract him from wanting to nurse all.dang.day.) are a close third. My favorite thing right now is when he asks for "Onie" (macaroni). He'll rummage through the pantry and pull out 3 boxes or the entire Costco box of Easy Mac. Such a goof ball.

He also loves "turtey" and apples. He is constantly saying "Eat? Eat! EAAATTTT!" The best is when it's late at night, we've just turned off the lights, and he asks to eat. We just laugh, but I always feel guilty because I'm not sure if he's actually hungry! We've had a few late night fruit pouches and hot dogs! He is already mastering the "get out of bed free" passes!

Late night hot dogs in bed!

What a punk, right?!

I'm a little traumatized by something he does as well:
"Eat?"
"Okay! What would you like to eat?"
"Dory!"

He has done this over a dozen times and I lose it every time. It makes me so sad to think about eating Dory, but it's also hysterical! 🙈

Weaning is backfiring. He's asking more and more these days. Thomas will have a few weeks off work soon, so the final days of milks will be very soon. I have absolutely loved being able to nurse for so long, but I'm ready to have my body back. I figured he'd be over it by now, but he's way more interested now than ever before.

Link's little mind is so fun to watch. The other night he wanted some chicken, so he started clucking like a chicken to ask for some of my dinner. It took me a second to realize what was going on. It was hysterical. I'm not sure if he made the connection, but it was awesome.

Just now, as I'm writing this, he saw a picture of himself and said "That's me!" WHAT?! Okay, who is teaching my kid these things. I am so shocked!

Milk and a kiwi. Perfect! Haha

Lincoln was fussing the other day, so Thomas picked him up and asked "What's wrong?" Lincoln replied, "Sad." We were so surprised! I'm a huge advocate for giving feelings and emotions names as they are happening, but I was so happy to see him make that connection! He has a little toy from a movie that has a sad face and he'll point that out as well. It's amazing to watch!

His latest passion is counting. We count fingers, toes, toys, food, and airplanes every day. It's amazing to help teach someone so excited to learn! He knows 1-10 and can say all of the numbers already. I'm so proud of this munchkin!

Lincoln held up a toy and said "Dyn-saur!" and I about lost it. It was so cool!

I'm always asking Lincoln if he's okay. Now, whenever I sneeze, stub my toe, etc, he'll say "Otay?" asking if I'm okay. I love it so much! It's crazy to have that role come into play with this age. He's aware, concerned, and asks. So much fun.

Lincoln's first birthday was a huge deal and a big party. This year I got him some clearance toys from Target and called it good. Poor guy. He has no idea and that is awesome for us! Haha. Thomas is having surgery and I'm still recovering from last year's festivities. We'll do a birthday for him next year. Maybe. Hahaha.

Lincoln notices things and has a knowledge of things and I have no idea where he's getting it! They other day, during a bath, he pointed up to the light fixture and said "bugs!" while making the baby sign for bug. I literally cannot tell you know he knew they were bugs! Also, gross. But we all know we have those little guys watching us all shower! ;)

Dipping bananas in ketchup! I just...nope.

Climbing all over dad the jungle gym!

My zoo buddy.

It's so fun to watch this tiny human blossom into a little boy! I'm still pretty emotional about the whole 2 year old thing, but I think we'll survive. I love being his mama and look forward to seeing all the amazing things he'll do!
