Potty Learning with Lincoln: Unexpected Benefits

Potty learning has been a lot of fun. We're not very far into it at all, but I'm still loving it. And so is Lincoln!

Naps are almost always dry these days! AMAZING! Whoop!

I try to keep up on the potty all day and keep it consistent, but that's not always easy to do. It's easiest at home, but harder when driving long distances. We still haven't braved a public restroom because gross. But I'm sure we'll do that eventually!

One of the biggest blessings from doing this has been the lack or rashes. Lincoln had a chronic yeast issue for a LONG time. I'm talking 3 months straight. A few months before that we battled the yeast for about 2 months. It drove me crazy. The mom guilt was fierce. It was never uncomfortable for him and never spread around too much, but it still made me so frustrated. I felt so guilty at every single diaper change.

Lincoln is staying dry most of the day. He still wets here and there, but is mostly on the potty. I also think cloth is helping with the rash. You can't do cloth with a yeast rash, so I am very cautious about it. The cloth seems to keep it away, though!

Anyway, just a little update on the potty learning! Lincoln still seems to love it! We do lots of snacks while on the potty. And lots of toys, singing songs, and playing. He is so fun.

Elijah's SVT and Asthma Diagnosis

If you had told me that our goofy little boy, who was blowing up a balloon and watching it launch across the room, would have a cardiac episode just a few hours later, I wouldn't have believed you. In fact, I would have just told you that was impossible and would never happen. At least it could never happen to us. And then it did. On Sunday morning Elijah woke up with a little bit of a cough but was otherwise acting totally silly and normal. His breathing seemed a little labored but it was nothing too concerning. I was vigilant and a little concerned but decided to just keep a close eye on him. I gave him Claritin for his allergies and some cough medicine for his cough. He said he was feeling really hot and wanted to take off his shirt and asked me to rub his back. The Bishop's Wife

In January Thomas was called to serve as the bishop of our local congregation. He is a full time volunteer for the members of our local ward family. He will serve in this position for the next 5 to 7 years. When he was asked to come in for a meeting with one of our local leaders, they made sure I was able to attend. We suspected he would be asked to be the bishop but it wasn't a sure thing. I kind of knew it was coming and Thomas was in slight denial. 😏 They pulled me in first and asked me a few questions about Thomas. I was sooooo tempted to tell them he was a very busy man and that I never ever saw him, but I held my tongue. (Being the bishop can require a lot of time). I know they knew he was an amazing man, but they definitely needed to hear it from me that he was as golden as he seemed.
